Would love your input on this Donald (can't tag you). I want to make all listings free on my classifieds site with paid addons similar to Gumtree and Kijiji. The users would be able to select the addons directly on the create form and then pay once submitted. Top ad is just a promoted listing. Urgent is top priority with a badge. Then the others are obvious. Any suggestions on how to implement this?

This is interesting. A way for people to nickel and dime themselves honestly. But I think it’s not gonna be a good long term money maker.

Donald McGuinn What would you suggest as a smarter long term approach? Classifieds sites are generally free for most post types and then charge a fee for cars, rentals and jobs. Then there's ads of course

dan bruno I would go with promotion packages based on timeframe, eg. 7 days, 30 days, etc. Then based on promotion package priority you can display promoted classifieds on top of homepage, categories, locations, etc., you can create also custom pages like Top 10 something, Editors Pick and so on. This promotion part în Voxel is very well done and very simple both for admins and regular users.

Gabi Maftei Thank you Gabi. So a free membership plan then all the charges through promotions. Do you recommend separate pricing for private and business users?

dan bruno Submission and promotion are two separate things, I'll do it by membership plans rather than user roles, eg:
- Free plan - 1 submission / each cpt / xx fields
- Silver paid plan - all in free plus website link
- Gold paid plan - all in silver plus additional gallery.

Then of course the option for each listing to be promoted based on timeframe / prices.

Gabi Maftei That's really helpful. Thanks so much!
